At Villari’s Self-Defense Centers, 4-, 5-, and 6- year olds have a lot of fun while they learn the basics of martial arts from trained and caring instructors.  Our tots program was specially designed to develop a child’s self-respect, self-control, and self-discipline.  The physical skills they learn through Shaolin Kempo Karate help them build their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Kids & Teens

Teens: Tues/Thurs, 7 – 8 PM, Saturday, 10 – 11 AM

Kids and teens love the martial arts!  In addition to improving their overall coordination, concentration, and ability to defend themselves, youngsters gain many positive and life-long benefits from its practice such as building self-worth, self-control and a genuine respect for peers and authority.  But while martial arts training is a great vehicle for a child’s physical and mental growth, children don’t belong in adult martial arts classes.

That’s why children and teenagers have their own programs and curricula, designed to channel their interest and enthusiasm for the physical aspects of martial arts into the other important aspects of life.  Kids and teens can begin to build real confidence in their abilities to meet and beat any challenge, first in the dojo, and then in the rest of life.

Shaolin Kempo Karate is a broad, combined system that covers a variety of mental and physical topics.  Semi-private classes let students learn at their own pace, challenged by classmates and teachers without fear of getting lost in a shuffle.

This curriculum is designed for the particular physical requirements of older students.  All traditional material is covered in the course of the class, with an emphasis on non-impact conditioning and flexibility.    Moving Tai-chi and Kung-Fu postures, such as the Seven Strands of the Brocade, take the place of the more traditional exercises.
