Testing Rules
Congratulations! Your attitude and ability in class has earned you the privilege of attending the next rank test!
(Now what does that mean, exactly?)
Rules for Test
- All rules for a normal class apply, including: general appearance, patches sewn in place, respect for each other and the instructors, bowing and kneeling when appropriate, good attitude, etc.
- No talking unless asked a question by an instructor.
- Punctuality is essential! If you’re not changed and on the dojo floor when the test starts, you’re not in the test.
- The only one you should be competing with is yourself! Looking better then the other candidates is not a guarantee of success.
A reminder to parents/students
An invitation is not a promise of promotion. Like all tests, there is a chance to fail. While I make sure that the students being tested have shown aptitude for the material and a good recollection of the rank-required information, behavior and effort on the test plays a large part in the result.
The information in these files are posted throughout the dojo. Students being tested for their next rank are responsible for the information, as well as information discussed with the students during classes. Please take advantage of the time between classes, as well as the files on this site to study and prepare.
